Model Marketplace Notice Template

The ACA requires employers to provide employees with a notice about the Exchanges by Oct. 1, 2013. This cover letter can be provided with the Exchange notice to help explain what the notice means. If an employer provides information about its current health coverage in the Exchange notice, the cover letter can help clarify that the plan's coverage in 2014 will be used to determine eligibility for Exchange subsidies. The letter requires customization.

Exchange Notice Requirements for Employers

The ACA requires employers to provide all new hires and current employees with a written notice about the Exchanges. The DOL calls this notice a "Notice to Employees of Coverage Options." This notice was originally required to be provided by March 1, 2013, but that deadline was delayed. On May 8, 2013, the DOL set a compliance deadline of Oct. 1, 2013, and also released model notices for employers to use.
